For the past seven years, I’ve sat down with at least 10 people per week to discuss their health and fitness goals. Though everyone has a different way of describing what they want I can almost always distill what they are really after……control.
They want control of their health. The phrase most often used to describe this feeling is, “I just want to get back on track.”
It’s called being in the drift. We are “in the drift” when don’t feel in control of our lives and we know we are not living to our fullest potential.
Life just seems to happen to us and we get caught up in a feedback loop of reaction after reaction never really getting ahead or taking care of ourselves.
How do you know if you are in the drift?
Do you feel like life is just happening to you and you are a bystander?
Have you tried “every diet out there” and still struggle to lose weight?
Have you been consistently unhappy with your current state of health and are not sure what to do next?
Do you feel like life is one boring day after another on repeat?
The drift is a toxic place to be. It will stymie growth and, if not disrupted, it can have dire consequences on our health.
When people take control they are immediately overcome with a sense of confidence and they feel empowered. I love it when people walk out of my office smiling and excited to start working out with us.
Don’t misunderstand me, there is no magic switch that keeps us out of the drift and in control of our lives, but rather it is a constant and never-ending pursuit. It takes daily vigilance and, for many people, a coach to help you along the way.
Now, I’ve had coaches for as long as I can remember and the value they have provided me far surpasses the money I’ve spent on them.
I am fanatical about coaching. I coach every day and I get coached every day and it is incredibly rewarding.
So here is my request….if you ever feel stuck in the drift just shoot me an email.
I would love to sit down with you and see if I can help.
Make it a Great Day!
